SUSTAINABILITY REPORTING IN THE PROVISION OF INVESTMENT SERVICES

The UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, signed in 2015 by the governments of the 193 UN member countries, and the Paris Agreement on Climate Change, signed on 22 April 2016 and ratified by the European Union on 5 October 2016, led the European Commission to present, in March 2018, an Action Plan for Sustainable Finance, with the aim of securing for Europe the position of “world leader in the transition to sustainable development”.

Implementation of the Plan has led to the issue of the SFDR (Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation), known as Regulation (EU) 2019/2088.

This Regulation forms part of a broader European regulatory framework, including the Taxonomy Regulation of 18 June 2020, which contains rules for intermediaries designed to harmonise information on the integration of sustainability risks and on the negative effects of decision-making and investment and insurance advisory processes on sustainability.
